Tips on Improving Your Golf Hook

 

           If you're one of those golfers who have always struggled with their golf hook, then you're not alone. Here's a fact: if you know how to fix a golf hook, then you can improve your golf follow through and even other game-related skills, such as your approach shot, golf impact ball and straight shoot. All these and more make up the art of good biomechanics golf. While the golf hook seems like such a simple concept, it is actually much harder to pull off. It's that one skill that takes only a few seconds, but those few seconds have to matter.

 

          However, no matter how daunting this sounds, there really is a way to cure that golf hook. All it takes is time to practice regularly. If you have a tendency to slice the ball, then these tips will probably help you. Allow me to propose a series of exercises that you can try, and see if these will help you correct that golf hook.

 

1.    Relax your grip – One of the best ways to improve that golf swing and eliminate your golf hook would be to take it easy on that grip. So many golfers are so determined to make their swing right that they end up getting all too tense on that ball, making the shot go awry. Just allow your hands to rotate and close over that grip and focus on your target. Just take it easy and don't grip too tight, as this ruins your shot.

 

2.    During your stance, let the ball move forward – this will help you improve your golf swing a lot. If you observe correctly, golf players who tend to slice do this as well. Try to do that and if you end up hooking the ball, you should be able to get the ball moving in a generally straight direction.

 

3.    If you are right-handed, focus on aiming to the left, and vice versa. First and foremost, you should concentrate on keeping your stance open—then swing. This will get your ball moving towards the right direction.

 

4.    Always, always, always ensure that you end with your weight on your forward foot. This caps off the perfect golf hook. With your weight on your forward foot, chances are you won't go wrong with the direction of your swing, upping the chances of scoring well and winning the game.

 

          Try this sequence and practice it regularly to see if it improves your golf hook. Make sure that you allot time to do this on a consistent basis, so that your body masters the feeling of preparing for that great golf shot. Doing so will prove to be beneficial for your game and your golf skills.
