The Perfect Golf Swing

Planning your swing beforehand is crucial to a long, straight drive. One of the most important aspects of a good swing is hitting the ball with the full, square surface of your driver's head. To do this, imagine that you are swinging at a ball behind the real ball. This helps you connect squarely.

TIP! If you're just taking up the game of golf, invest in some professional lessons. Developing an accurate golf swing is extremely difficult to do on your own.

One easy suggestion for trying to hit a fade is to add a little more squeeze to your grip. While you may not have the full distance you would gain from your normal grip, using a little more strength, especially in the non-dominant hand, will give you that extra movement on the ball when you need it. Practice this on the driving range.

To help with a proper swing you need to set your body up correctly when addressing the ball. Setting up the correct way will give you good balance and allow you to rotate your hips through the swing. When you have good balance and hip rotation, you should be able to hit the ball much further.

TIP! To ensure that you have a solid ball strike and the most accuracy possible during a golf swing, you want to be on-plane at the top of the swing. This means that as your club is extending back above your head, your forearm and spine should actually be parallel (right forearm for right-handers).

Balance your body weight in an appropriate way to facilitate a proper swing and thus a smooth progression on the golf course. Though a natural inclination is to put weight on your heels or toes, it is actually the balls of your feet that should take all the pressure here. The amount of weight that is shifted from side to side or foot to foot will be determined by what type of iron you are utilizing at any given moment.

TIP! A good golf swing is a combination of a lot of things, but your body is what's providing the real power. Understanding this is necessary in order to hit the ball with a powerful stroke.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to be sure that you are using your full body when you are trying to add more power to your shot. This is important because if you try to use arm or wrist strength, you will throw off the accuracy of your shot.

Good golfers never forget that the perfect golf swing is a full-body motion. The hips and legs need to work in concert with the arms to maximize power and maintain accuracy. At the same time that the arms bring the club down, the hips should be swiveling, and once the shot is made the legs should pivot for full follow-through.
